Mustard & Rye and Louella Jade Eke
Last week I photographed two gigs. The first was at Mustard and Rye with Sleep Cycles and Goan Dogs performing and the second was at The Taphouse with Louella Jade Eke performing.
I must say, despite great performances at both gigs, the same issues arose. That is, venues putting on gigs in parts of the venue that are either too small to hold acts, or have too poor lighting, or an incredibly distracting backdrop, making photographing these events a task to say the least.
Venues need to learn that this can be often be easily remedied by moving the music to another part of the venue, buying a spot light (or two) and pinning up a plain sheet to the wall behind the performance. These simple things alone would make bands easier to photograph, and more pleasant to watch.
