Dave O'Higgins Quartet 8.4.15
I was chatting to an artist after this gig and he was saying how important it is not to get stuck in the rut of doing the same type of work all the time. He basically said, if you draw portraits, try doing abstract or landscape, use different mediums and keep yourself on your toes. That's why I like doing photographing gigs though, because you can't control anything, so even though it may look like you're doing the same type of photography over and over, in fact, you're being challenged in ways that people wouldn't notice because musicians movements are always different, as is lighting, and space constraints. I'm pretty thankful that I'm in a position where I get to photograph great musicians, as well as be mentally stimulated and challenged.
