Blue River, Behind The Scenes at BBC Introducing, 19.6.19
Where were these photographs taken?
These photographs were taken in the BBC offices in Plymouth, Devon.
Some words about the shoot…
Blue River were very lucky to be asked to perform a couple of live tracks for the BBC and then to be interviewed afterwards and luckily for me also, they took me along for the ride.
I think with every behind the scenes type task there are certain things that you have to contend with. Here, given the light was a mixture of available natural light with overhead fluorescent lighting, as well as the band performing in a pretty busy room that had been used for training that day (so there were computers everywhere) it became a task to get photographs that didn’t feel overtly messy (whilst also being aware of shadows).
Alongside this, with behind the scenes shots of bands, I always want to capture a sense of what it is genuinely like to be in this situation. The majority of time I’ve found that while there is a huge sense of excitement, there is also an unnerving tension to anything like this. I hope that comes across in the photographs.
