SW1 TV had asked Blue River if they could film them rehearsing a couple of tracks in their practice space, followed by an interview with the band and I tagged along to get a couple of shots of the whole thing.
I’ve worked on providing a mix of shots here. I’m pretty close to the band at this point so there are a couple of relaxed portraits alongside shots of the band getting ready to rehearse as well as the act of performing and documenting the process behind this.
As with documenting things like this, the importance isn’t on my photographs, so I tried to generally hang back and capture shots with a mixture of a 135mm lens, a 58mm lens and grabbing a couple of wides with my 14-24mm lens. The main thing here is that I create a feeling of what the session was like without at any point intruding upon the filming or the band too much.
