Megan, Portrait Photography via Zoom, 27.3.21

Where were these photographs taken?
These photographs were taken using Zoom and the power of the internet!

Some words about the shots…
Sometimes you get weeks where you have bookings and then all of a sudden people have cancelled, rescheduled or simply are now ghosting you. People are always shocked to hear about the ghosting thing but honestly, after probably a decade of taking photographs now, it’s more likely to be ghosted than cancelled on with notice.

Luckily I nagged Megan into shoot. I’ve worked with Megan before, although it was kind of an accident as Megan just happened to be hanging out with the person I was photographing that day. So we took a brief few shots and that was it really.

I’ve been pushing the more experimental side of things and exploring the image of beauty, as well as being quite influenced by horror films and Megan is pretty much the perfect subject with this in mind. Megan is just one of those people that is effortlessly cool and is weird and wonderful and an absolute joy to shoot. I gave Megan zero direction, other than to experiment with a couple of things that they had to hand, and you can see the results.

As you can see, the shots are very….red. It’s something I wanted to try. I’ve had coloured perspex for awhile. I’ve used it for a shoot previously but not for years. So I thought 'I’d give it a go and see what dynamic it creates. And to be honest, I really vibe. As well, I used a Lensbaby for the images. My images are purposefully soft anyway, especially on Zoom. So why not just embrace that?!

I hope that you enjoy these Zoom portraits!
