Osa, Portrait Photography via Zoom, 12.5.21

Where were these photographs taken?
These photographs were taken using Zoom and the power of the internet!

Some words about the shots…
I think sometimes people get daunted with the idea of having to pose themselves. With these experimental portraits, I say from the off that I won’t pose someone. If I start posing people then I’ll get the same images from every shoot, and then what’s the point? I’ll direct someone if something isn’t working, or if I feel they aren’t getting out of their head but beyond that, I’m not going to tell someone how to act on camera.

From the off Osa said that direction was something they worked better with. I think though, once Osa realised that it didn’t matter, that you can be daft and silly and weird, that’s when we started getting interesting results.

The photograph of the fist moving towards Osa is one of my favourite Zoom images so far. There’s absolutely no way I would’ve asked someone to do that, or even thought to do that. Osa just started being silly and pretending to punch themselves and pulling a daft face to mirror it. That image is the result. It just goes to show the power of creativity on both sides of the camera (in my opinion).

I hope you enjoy these Zoom portraits!
