Some words about the shots…
Shooting with males has been an interesting change up for me. I don’t generally buy into there being much difference between genders etc but I do find a more comfortable simplicity in photographing a male and just not having them really pose for me.

That said, I’ve been watching a lot of hip hop documentaries lately and that whole eighties into nineties era of hip hop promotional portrait is just flawless without really needing to be posed. So I think a lot of that attitude is probably seeping into my work more than anything.

As you’ll see, if you’ve managed to maintain concentration until the end of the shots, I’ve included some alternative black and white shots. As a general rule I don’t shoot portraits (unless they are band portraits) in black and white, but there was something about a couple of these shots that I think lent themselves to that.
